Pharmacy on Wheels

Pharmacy on Wheels is a mobile healthcare initiative aimed at improving medical access for people living in remote areas of Nepal. Many residents in these regions are unable to travel long distances to cities for healthcare. Our project brings essential medical services directly to their villages.

We will travel by jeep to remote villages, accompanied by a local nurse and a licensed doctor. Our main focus is on primary and secondary prevention, especially early detection of chronic diseases. We conduct health screenings for high blood pressure and diabetes, two of the most prevalent and often undiagnosed conditions in rural areas.

To provide immediate assistance, we bring along a small mobile pharmacy stocked with essential medicines. This allows us to treat common infections and minor illnesses on-site. Beyond treatment, education is a key part of our mission. We spend time teaching patients about their health conditions, and show them how to monitor their blood pressure and blood sugar at home, empowering them to take control of their health.

Our goal is not a one-time visit but long-term support. We return to each village every 3 to 6 months for follow-ups, to monitor progress, adjust treatments, and continue education.

During these visits, we also have the opportunity to conduct Sahayatra programs.

Budget

To launch Pharmacy on Wheels in 2026, we are preparing a detailed financial plan to ensure a sustainable start. Initial funding will be allocated to the purchase and modification of a jeep, which will serve as our mobile clinic and pharmacy. Additional costs include medical equipment, diagnostic tools, essential medications, and logistical supplies.

The other part of the budget will be dedicated to cover the salaries of at least one licensed doctor and one qualified nurse, ensuring professional and reliable care during each mission.

1. Mobile Clinic

  • Jeep: 7'000 USD

  • Pharmacy stock: 500 USD

  • Strecher

  • ECG machine

  • Multiple blood sugar monitors

  • Portable ultrasound device

This list is not exhaustive and may be supplemented at any time by us.

These contributions will help us use our resources more efficiently and ensure the project sustainability.
